US 29 Corridor Study

This is one of our major streets. Let's work together to make it better. The Town of China Grove is seeking your input on potential priorities and recommendations along the US 29 corridor between Main Street and Bostian Road.


Bostian Road Detour

NCDOT contract forces are scheduled to close Bostian Rd at the intersection of US-29 to build the new intersection alignment.  The road closure is scheduled to take place beginning at 9:00 am on Monday, July 27th with plans to open the road back up by August 14, 2020.  The detour will be East on Bostian Rd to south on Daugherty Rd to US-29.

Safer at Home Phase II

Governor Cooper announced June 24, 2020 that North Carolina will remain under Safer At Home Phase 2 of lifting COVID-19 restrictions until at least Friday, July 17. The new order takes effect Friday, June 26, 2020 at 5 pm.  For more information on Phase II, click here.

COVID-19 Worker and Business Resources

COVID-19 has brought considerable changes to our community in a short period of time.  Visit the Rowan County COVID-19 Worker & Business Resources Site for information on unemployment benefits, available jobs, business resources, guidelines, federal, state and local updates regarding impacted industries. This site is updated frequently, so please check it often. There are Covid-19 Business Resource kits available. 

Services During COVID-19

The Town of China Grove is actively monitoring is COVID-19 crisis and are following guidance from government and health officials to keep our community safe.

Currently, The Town of China Grove is functioning under normal conditions. All services are operating on their regular schedules. 
Town Hall is open and staff will continue to work during the business hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday thru Thursday. In order to comply with the recommendations of local, state and federal health agencies, town staff are practicing social distancing by canceling in-office meetings and telecommuting.

Town employees may be reached by phone or email using the staff directory.  
Our park land is open, although the China Grove Little League Field and all playground equipment at all three playgrounds will remain closed until further notice. We are also not accepting any rentals for our Community Building.  We will reassess the usage of the Community Building in the upcoming weeks and make announcements regarding this service when it is appropriate.

State of Emergency Declaration

Friday at 11 a.m., Rowan County Board of Commissioners Chairman Greg Edds signed a State of Emergency Declaration in response to COVID-19. China Grove Mayor Charles Seaford signed a Consent to County Declaration. The state of emergency declaration issued by Rowan County shall apply within the corporate limits of China Grove. The declaration helps the county and town seek federal money related to COVID-19 preparation, response and recovery.

At this point in time, the risk of becoming infected with COVID-19 in North Carolina is still low. However, there are measures that you can and should take to remain healthy.

Census 2020

The census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and your community. The Census will allocate $675 billion in federal funding to go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other vital community programs based on census data.

Interested in Serving on a Town Board?

The Town of China Grove Boards & Commissions help shape the future of our community by serving in an advisory capacity to the Town Council.  Those interested in serving in a voluntary capacity on an Advisory Board may submit an application to the Town Clerk.  The applicant must be a resident of the Town or the Extraterritorial Zoning Jurisdiction of the Town of China Grove.
