Farmers Day 2020 in "Idle"

Farmers Day 2020 in "Idle"

 Dear China Grove Community,
The decision we share today is one of the hardest we’ve had to make in regards to our annual Farmers Day Festival. As much as we want to hold the festival as planned, we recognize that we must put the health and safety of our community, farmers, volunteers, staff, sponsors, performers and vendors first. We waited to make the decision so we could have the most current information regarding public health conditions, enabling us to make the most informed decision to protect everyone involved. Due to Covid-19 risk and the mass gathering restrictions in place, we have decided to “idle Farmers Day 2020 but will be back in gear and going strong for 2021”.
Farmers Day celebrates friends, family and community and brings an energy that comes from everyone present. Smiling faces enjoying a homemade ice cream, fresh fruits & vegetables, looking at antique tractors, children dressed up as little farmers, listening to music under the tent, and the excitement of the fireworks all bring us joy and a sense of place in our community. We are grateful for all of you who generate this energy and make this event possible. We realize the impact of this cancellation on the community that makes Farmers Day possible – the artists, farmers, civic groups, volunteer groups, sponsors, attendees, community partners and our local business community – cannot be overstated.
We appreciate our sponsors Novant Health, Food Lion, Atrium Health, Farm Bureau, Rowan County Tourism and our community partners who have also been impacted by the Covid-19 crisis.
Thank you to all of you for your patience and understanding in this difficult decision. We look forward to seeing all of you next year and making many happy memories together again on July 17, 2021.

Respectfully,
Charles Seaford, Mayor
